Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Friday, August 21, 2009
On the way to Kirtland, Ohio, we had a couple of detours we had to make. You can't just drive by Smuckers. We bought a couple of new products they had--a pumpkin butter spread and a lemon curd.

Then we saw a sign that said: Cuyahoga Valley National Park. We had to stop and see why it made national park status. It became protected after the Cuyahoga River caught fire in 1969. It was so polluted that something sparked a fire on it. Because of this, the Environmental Protection Agency was formed and our water quality and other laws protecting the environment came to be.
